Here are some tunes to keep your toes tapping, legs swinging, arms flapping, heads banging, fingers drumming, knees shaking and your mouths singing… hopefully!!

There you have three choon-meisters that have kept my toes tapping, legs swinging, arms flapping, head banging, fingers drumming, knees shaking and mouth singing.

    ENJOI!!!

  • Current Addictions!

At the moment I’m reading “The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes”. Now call me an idiot if you like, but I didn’t realise old Sherlock spent half his time solving crimes in a massive drug induced haze. Nothing like cracking unsolved cases after a massive cocaine binge apparently. A side of Holmes they neglected to teach us about in english lessons.

Anyway I thought I’d share five of my current addictions, all decidedly less Rock and Roll than the indulgences of the great detective!

    1. Caramel KitKats

    2. Nescafé Alta Rica

    3. Batman Arkham Asylum

    4. A Bit of Fry & Laurie

    5. Sauvignon Blanc

Here’s a pretty ‘fair’ representation of Holmes & Watson

Ah, that slap bang in the middle of the week feeling that can only come with a Wednesday.

Anyway here are some little musical nuggets to keep things going til the weekend, when I’m sure you’ll all be making your way down to Barry to see us play some brand-spanking-never-before-heard-by-anyone-else-songs, or maybe you won’t be coming.

Check out these tunes of phatnessness!

  • Listening Post – Festival Special!!

So everyone’s been off to some kind of festival this year, and this weekend is reading and leeds. For the first time in yeeeeears I’m not going to be anything band related this August bank-holiday, a peculiar feeling!!

So I’m going to curate a festival, in my mind!

The theme of the festival? 80s Power mama-ruckers!! So if it doesn’t have room for a saxophone solo or the reverbiest of reverb-y snare drums it ain’t on my bill!

    My festival, my rules!

So here are the headliners, best viewed with the biggest shoulder pads available  and back comb all that hair into the biggest nest imaginable.

    Friday Night

    Robert Palmer

    YouTube Preview Image

You know this would be huge, plus any song with the line ‘I know you like it, like it on top!’ deserves to head any festival.

    Saturday Night

    Huey Lewis & The News

    YouTube Preview Image

There’s definitely more to this man and blokes than Addicted To Love. I wanted to put up Hip to be Square but it got removed from the youtube! Everyone should own a copy of FORE!, if only to jump around your bedroom in a mackintosh with an axe doing your best Patrick Bateman impressions.

    Sunday Night

    David Bowie

    YouTube Preview Image

Whatever theme this “festival” had been I’m pretty sure Mr Bowie would’ve fit into the bill somehow. Anyway here’s Let’s Dance before that Craig David got his filthy mitts on it. I reckon Bowie would round off the festival nicely!

So there you go, if you’re gutted at missing out on this years festivals I’m pretty sure this’ll see you through to next year, because I know, secretly, you all bloody love these songs!!

    Check this out!

I found this video on the Virgin Media Shorts website it’s pretty funny. There’s loads of other short films on the site and it’s definitely worth a look, check out the film Hiccup on there too.

  • Listening Post!!

Well because I quite enjoyed the narcissism of the last listening post blog I did, I though I’d do another. You know, I just got that feeling that there was a hunger out there to learn more about what I’m listening to this week!

So here are three things what I’ve been listening to via my ears!

    Pearl Jam – Yellow Ledbetter

    YouTube Preview Image

In case you didn’t know I’ll say it again, I saw Pearl Jam this week, it was bloody immense, so here’s a little more. It’s off Lost Dogs hear it ‘ere

    Beta band – Assessment

    YouTube Preview Image

The Beta Band were an epic band. It’s a shame they stopped a few years ago. Anyway this track is off their last album ‘Heroes to Zeros’ you should listen, it’s packed full of healthy music related goodness!! Spotify the mother chucker here!

    Roxy Music – Street Life

    YouTube Preview Image

Keeping it fresh, new and up to date I’ve been listening to lots of Roxy Music. Stranded was the first Roxy Music album I bought, aaaaages ago, Street Life is the first track! Spotify it ===========> HEEEEEEYAAAAH!!!

Three tracks, three tracks for your aural and visual consumption and enjoyment!!

  • Finally…

…I’m able to blog from my iPhone! I can now blog wherever I am, there’s no escaping my everyday tales of mundanity!
I’m on my way to Pearl Jam in London at the moment.
As my first mundane moment and more as a bit of an experiment here is the M4 in all its grey glory! A more than familiar site over the last few years, it’s a lot more fun in a boozy tourbus.

  • Do The Evolution

Well tomorrow is almost here, which means I get to see Pearl Jam, finally! I missed them when they came to Cardiff on the Binaural tour.

Anyway I thought I’d post my fav PJ vid up here, and share the massive well of awesomeness.

    YouTube Preview Image

Tis the video  for Do The Evolution from the album Yield. The video was directed by Kevin Altieri and Todd Mcfarlane who’ve been involved in the animated series’ of Batman and Spawn respectively. The animation is epic, and the Spawn influence is pretty evident in some of the dark stuff that happens in the video.

It basically backs up what the song is about, the massive impact human’s have had on the earth in the last hundred years and our perceived ownership despite it having been around millions and billions of years before us, and will be after us.

Death’s represented as a sexy lady a la ‘The Sandman’ for all you Neil Gaiman fans oot thar!

  • Parrots, The Universe & Everything

During the usual insomnia-based, late night, web-perusal I happened upon this video on youtube.

It’s Douglas Adams (author of The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy) giving a talk about his book and TV program ‘Last Chance To See’ at The University of California in 2001.

    YouTube Preview Image

It’s an hour and a half long (epic by youtube standards) but well worth a watch/listen if you have the time to spare. Maybe, rather than watch Big Brother or anything on ITV2 today, watch this.

  • Listening Post!

I know what you’re all thinking, I know it’s sending you crazy, loopy round the bend, you’re losing sleep, all because you can’t stop thinking “WHAT THE HELL IS IWAN LISTENING TO AT THE MOMENT??”

Well luckily I’m on hand to tell you, thank God for my incredible psychic abilities eh? So here’s three tunes for y’all to check out and either crumble at the sheer awesomeness of my musical taste, or fall in a heap, laughing at my poor poor poor taste and poor poor poor ears!

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!

    YouTube Preview Image

Also check out the movie ‘The Proposition’ written by Nick Cave it’s full of good stuff.

Genesis – The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

    YouTube Preview Image

You’ve got to listen to this album. It’s one of the most complete amazing coherent prog rock albums ever. Before Genesis went all 80s, although, say it quietly, some of that stuffs pretty good too.

The video has Bill Bruford and Phil Collins drumming which is like some massive orgy of drumming awesomeness!

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals – Cardinology

    YouTube Preview Image

I saw Ryan Adams & The Cardinals in Cardiff Millenium Centre a couple of years ago, it was an epic gig. Anyway the video is them doing a cover of ‘What Sin Replaces Love’ on the Henry Rollins Show. Enjoy its epic jams.

So as ever what I’m listening to is cutting-edge, ahead of the game stuff. Hope it brings you some listening pleasure, while you wait for our new record, obviously!
